A Contemplation of Form

As part of Lisbon Design Week (May 2026), A CONTEMPLATION OF FORM showcases a unique collaboration between ceramist Maud Téphany and woodworker Rodolphe Renou in a disused garage space annexed to Mono, a multidisciplinary artist-run space. Together, they explore the shifting boundaries of volume and structure through a series of functional objects (side tables, stools, or lamps) that transcend utility to become sculptural archetypes. Inhabiting a raw, the exhibition creates a dialogue between the refined pieces and their industrial surroundings.

Their approach is a manifesto of assembly: each piece deliberately confronts clay and wood, allowing both materials to retain their distinct identities. Drawing from elemental geometry and Japanese joinery techniques, the makers create minimal structures where balance and imbalance coexist.

By blending traditional craftsmanship with experimental research, Maud Téphany and Rodolphe Renou transform furniture into a visual language, inviting the viewer into a state of contemplation.

This exhibition highlights the intersection of precision, material sensitivity, and contemporary artistic expression.

Pieces available only upon request.
